Hillsborough 1979
This project focuses on the interior remodel of the main kitchen and master suite within a mid-century modern home designed by award-winning Swedish architect Mogens Mogensen. While the home remains in excellent condition, the clients aim to update these key spaces to better suit their current lifestyle and anticipate future needs as they age.
The kitchen will be redesigned to create a brighter, more open environment with natural light flowing from both sides of the house. Countertop space will be significantly expanded to support the clients’ functional needs, with thoughtful design elements to promote ease of use and accessibility. Care will be taken to preserve the home’s mid-century modern charm while incorporating subtle, age-friendly features.
The master suite will be reconfigured to enlarge the bathroom and walk-in closets. The design prioritizes accessibility, functionality, and comfort, supporting the clients’ future needs while maintaining a refined, modern aesthetic. The project seeks to balance timeless design with practical considerations for aging in place, ensuring the home remains both beautiful and functional for years to come.
